Jam – A Sweet Girl with a Big Heart and Lots to Learn!

Jam – A Sweet Girl with a Big Heart and Lots to Learn!
Meet Jam! This beautiful 6-year-old Olde English Bulldogge is a 58 lb bundle of affection, personality, and enthusiasm! ❤️ She’s a strong girl with a soft side, a love for toys, and a firm belief that she absolutely belongs on your lap, regardless of how much space she takes up!
Jam came into Victoria Bulldog Society’s care alongside Peanut Butter, and the bond between these two is incredibly strong. She is very attached to him, and we’re working on helping her feel more confident and comfortable when she’s on her own. While Peanut Butter has been a big part of her world, we believe Jam has the potential to thrive as an individual dog with the right support, patience, and reassurance.
Jam has been an absolute gem with everyone she meets! She loves people, enjoys car adventures, and is always happy to head out for a walk or spend time playing with her favourite toys. She’s an affectionate girl who wants to be part of whatever you’re doing, whether that’s heading out for an adventure or settling in for some couch time.
Jam is still learning some of the basics when it comes to manners and leash walking, but the good news is that she’s a quick learner and VERY food motivated. That combination makes her a great candidate for positive reinforcement training! With consistency, patience, and a few tasty rewards, we think this girl will make wonderful progress.
Jam is ready to find a home where she can continue learning, build her confidence, and discover just how wonderful life can be.
Home Requirements
Jam is looking for a committed foster-to-adopt home on southern Vancouver Island where she can continue developing her skills and confidence while Victoria Bulldog Society supports her ongoing needs.
A fully secured, escape-proof fenced yard is essential. Both Jam and Peanut Butter have escaped in the past, and we know these two would happily head off on their own adventure if given the opportunity! Jam’s future home will need secure fencing, reliable gates, and someone who understands the importance of supervision and preventing escapes.
Jam would do best in an active home that enjoys getting out and about but understands that shorter walks and manageable adventures are best for her. She is a strong 58 lb girl, and until her leash manners improve, her future handler will need to be physically comfortable managing her strength on walks.
Other dogs: Jam is dog-friendly, and we believe she could do well with a well-mannered, confident, and secure canine companion who can help provide a positive example. Proper introductions and compatibility assessments will be important. We are also working on her separation anxiety and helping her become more comfortable being an only dog. She may thrive as a solo dog with someone who is home frequently and can provide the companionship and reassurance she needs.
Cats: Jam has not been cat-tested, so her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. A home without cats is recommended.
Children: A home without small children would be best for Jam, given her size, strength, and enthusiastic nature.
Her ideal home will offer structure, consistency, positive reinforcement training, plenty of affection, and the patience to help her become the confident, well-mannered companion we know she can be.
Medical Needs
Jam is currently awaiting her spay surgery. Once this procedure has been completed and she has recovered, we’ll continue supporting her health and wellbeing as she settles into her next chapter.
Jam also has allergies that will need ongoing management. Her future family should be prepared to work with Victoria Bulldog Society and her veterinary team to help keep her allergies under control and address any flare-ups as needed.
As with all of our bulldogs, keeping up with routine veterinary care and monitoring changes in her skin, ears, and overall comfort will be important.
Our goal is to make sure Jam has the medical support she needs to feel her best while helping her transition successfully into a home of her own.
Personality & Behavior
Jam is a people-loving, toy-playing, adventure-enjoying girl who brings plenty of enthusiasm wherever she goes!
She’s been an absolute sweetheart with everyone she’s met in our care. She enjoys car rides, going for walks, and playing with her toys. She also firmly believes that she’s a lap dog, so don’t be surprised if this 58 lb girl tries to squeeze herself into your personal space for some affection! 😂
Jam is dog-friendly, but she hasn’t quite mastered all the social niceties yet. She has limited manners and would benefit greatly from some basic obedience training. Fortunately, she’s a quick learner and loves her food, which means treats will be a very useful tool when teaching her new skills!
Loose-leash walking is one of the areas we’ll be working on. Jam is a strong girl, and she can pull on the leash, so she’ll need a family willing to practise consistently and help her learn that walks are more enjoyable when everyone is walking together.
We’re also working on her separation anxiety. Having come into care with Peanut Butter, Jam has formed a strong attachment to him. We want to help her build confidence and learn that she can feel safe and secure even when he’s not around. This will take patience, gradual practice, and a home that understands the importance of helping her settle at her own pace.
We believe Jam has so much potential. With the right guidance, she can continue learning good manners, develop confidence on her own, and become a wonderful companion.
Seeking a Foster-to-Adopt Home
Jam is looking for a committed foster-to-adopt home on southern Vancouver Island that will give her the opportunity to settle into a home environment while continuing to work on her training, confidence, and medical needs.
Her ideal family will be willing to help her learn basic obedience, practise loose-leash walking, and work through her separation anxiety with patience and consistency. She would benefit from a basic manners training class, where she can learn alongside her people and build a stronger bond through positive reinforcement.
We believe Jam could do well with a well-mannered, confident dog, but she may also thrive as an only dog with someone who is home often and can help her become comfortable spending time independently.
A secure, escape-proof yard is a must, and her future family will need to be prepared to manage her allergies and continue her veterinary care, including her pending spay surgery.
Victoria Bulldog Society will provide guidance and support throughout her placement. We want to find Jam a home that understands she’s still learning, recognizes her potential, and is excited to help her become the best version of herself.
In return, you’ll get a loving girl who adores people, loves her toys, enjoys car adventures, and will happily try to convince you that every couch is better when she’s sitting on your lap!
