Grandma – A Sweet Senior English Bulldog Looking for a Loving Foster or Forever Home!
Meet Grandma! Grandma is an incredibly calm, sweet, and lovable English Bulldog senior, approaching 12 years old. When she first came into our care, she was in rough shapeâmorbidly obese, suffering from severe arthritis, and plagued by dental disease with exposed roots, which requires major dental surgery. Despite her challenges, Grandma has been thriving under dedicated care and attention, and sheâs now on pain management, daily eye drops, and ear treatments, all of which she will need for the rest of her life.
Grandma is also deaf and experiences long-term ear infections. Her vision is extremely limited, and while she can detect some light in one eye, she has no depth perception and is effectively blind. She cannot navigate stairs safely, but sheâs learned to use a low dog ramp to enter and exit her foster home. An ideal home for Grandma would be a single-level residence with easy access to a flat, fully fenced yard where she can safely enjoy the outdoors.
A Day in Grandmaâs Life Despite her medical history, Grandma has a zest for life! She loves spending time outside in the sun and doesnât mind a little rain. Sheâs gradually increasing her walking ability and has even embraced the dog stroller, which allows her to go on longer outings. Grandma currently enjoys 2-3 short walks a day (10-20 minutes each), where she loves sniffing around and exploring her surroundings.
Grandma also delights in using snuffle mats and interactive food toys, which stimulate her keen sense of smell. Sheâs even shown an interest in chewing, though her bad teeth limit her enjoyment for now. We know sheâll be even happier after her upcoming dental surgery!
Grandma is fostered with other dogs and prefers calm environments. While she tolerates other dogs, she likes to keep her distance and doesnât appreciate dogs getting in her face. She is currently in a foster home with children and does well, but she would likely prefer a quieter, retirement-style home where she can relax without dodging toy monster trucks.
Home Requirements
A one-level home with no stairs
A flat, fully fenced yard
Someone home most of the time to provide her with attention and administer her eye drops
While Grandma can be left alone for a few hours, she will happily snooze while youâre out
