đž Meet Gia: Our Sweet Big Girlie đž
Gia – An Amazing Olde English Bulldog Looking for a Forever Home!
Gia â A Sweet Olde English Bulldog Looking for a Forever Home! đžMeet Gia! Gia is a lively and affectionate 4-year-old spayed Olde English Bulldog with a zest for life and a big heart. She came into our care after her previous owner said they were moving out the country but we believe that might not have been the full truth. Despite Gia feeling dumped from the only home she knew, Gia has remained cheerful, full of personality, and ready to love life after a bit of settling into her new journey!
When Gia arrived, she was morbidly obeseâso much so that she had a hard time getting around and unable to jump onto the couch. Since coming into care, Gia has already lost over 10 pounds and is working hard to get to a healthy weight. She still has a little more to go, but she’s well on her way to living her best life!
Home Requirements:
Gia would do best in a home with another well-mannered, social dog. She doesnât like being left alone but is super chill and relaxed when she has a dog buddy to hang out with. We havenât cat-tested Gia yet, but we are happy to do so for the right home. Gia would also benefit from a fully fenced yardâshe loves hanging out outside but does have a bit of an adventurous wanderer if given too much freedom.
Gia has lived in a foster home with children. While she loves kids, she shows her affection in hilarious ways, like humping them when she gets too excited. For that reason, weâre seeking a kid-free home or a home with older kids who can handle her silly, loving shenanigans.
Medical Needs:
Giaâs medical care is still a work in progress. In addition to her weight loss journey, she has severe hip dysplasia and may require surgery to help with her hips. However, vets have recommended waiting until she reaches a healthier weight before making a final decision. Sheâs currently on pain management for her hips and will likely need lifelong medications to keep her comfortable.
Gia also came into care with urinary leakage, which we believe is related to spay incontinence. She is on medication for this and is booked for an ultrasound to rule out any other urinary issues. Our veterinary team is committed to finding the best treatment plan for Gia to ensure she feels her best every day and isn’t leaking!.
Personality & Behavior:
Gia is a joyful, playful soul who loves toysâespecially playing tug or tossing toys around the yard! She enjoys leisurely walks and absolutely adores spending time outdoors, sniffing and listening to the world around her. She has a calm and sweet temperament but still gets the best zoomies across the lawn when the mood strikes.
Sheâs amazing in the car and would make a wonderful office dog since she just loves to hang out with her people. Gia greets her favorite humans with flying leg hugs and excited ear kisses when they come home. She even âtalksâ to you with her funny little Marge Simpson-like groans when she doesnât like something or wants you to do something!
Gia is well-behaved when left alone for short periods. She isnât destructive but prefers not to be left solo for long. When she’s happy and tired, your house will be filled with the soothing sounds of her happy, snoring bulldog dreams.
