🐾 Meet Art: Your One-Eyed Wonder and Handsome New Companion! 🐾
Art – A Spirited French Bulldog Looking for a Forever Home!
Meet Art! Art is a lively and affectionate 5-year-old male French Bulldog with a zest for life and a big heart. He came to us in urgent need of medical care after his previous owner could no longer manage the high costs of his treatment. Despite his challenges, Art has remained cheerful and full of personality.
Upon arriving in our care, Art required emergency surgery at WAVES hospital to remove his right eye. Unfortunately, there was no way to save it due to severe glaucoma, a cataract, and a painful corneal ulcer that had been causing him discomfort since March. Thankfully, Art is now pain-free, and his recovery has been remarkable! Our dedicated medical team continues to ensure he receives the best possible care for a happy, healthy future.
Home Requirements Art has been cat-tested, and we can confidently say that he will need a feline-free home. While he has been around other dogs, Art is selective in his canine friendships. He prefers dogs of similar size and enjoys the company of female dogs. Slow, careful introductions are essential for Art to feel comfortable with new dog friends. He has shown leash reactivity toward other dogs but has made significant progress in his leash manners. His future home should be prepared to continue this positive reinforcement training. Also Art would love a home with a doggie door to his own fully fenced yard!
Art is currently living in a foster home with children. While he tolerates kids, he’s not particularly fond of their energy unless they’re snuggling with him or playing a game of fetch. For this reason, we are seeking a kid-free home where Art can relax and thrive.
Medical Needs Art’s medical care has been extensive. In addition to his eye surgery, he has undergone two dental surgeries to remove fast-growing oral masses. Looking ahead, Art will need knee surgery for a luxating patella and a potential tear. We are also focused on managing his lifelong skin allergies, ensuring he gets relief from his skin allergies and reaches a healthy weight, and updating his vaccinations soon. Despite these medical hurdles, Art’s resilient spirit shines through, and he’s always ready for a good snuggle or a play session.
Personality & Behavior Art is a bundle of joy with a charming and playful personality. He loves toys—whether it’s playing with them or deconstructing them! He also enjoys leisurely walks and has a blast playing with water from the hose. Art is well-behaved when left alone, kennel-trained, and fully house-trained, making him a low-maintenance companion in many ways.
Seeking a Foster or Foster-to-Adopt Home We are now seeking a loving, dog-savvy foster or foster-to-adopt home for Art. This home should be prepared to provide the time, love, and attention he deserves as he continues his medical journey. All of Art’s needs, including medications, veterinary care, food, supplies, and support, will be fully covered by the Victoria Bulldog Society during the fostering period.
